Paper in Nature

 Fri 13-May-2016

In May 2016 a paper was published in Nature called "Genome-wide association study identifies 74 loci associated with educational attainment"

Educational attainment is strongly influenced by social and other environmental factors, but genetic factors are estimated to
account for at least 20% of the variation across individuals.
In a genome-wide association study 74 genome-wide significant loci associated with the number of years of schooling completed were identified by a international team of Reserachers.

Erasmus played an important role in this consortium. 1st author, 13 co-authors in a cooperation between Erasmus MC (department of Epidemiology and department of Internal Medicine) and EUR (applied economics and ERIBEB institute).
